The Grove Pub Planning Application

As many of you living in the Lenton Area will know, a planning application was made last year to convert the Grove Pub on the corner of Grove Road and Castle Boulevard into student accommodation.  The application was objected to by many and councillors stood by local opinion and voted against it too.  The developer took the application to appeal and I am pleased to report, the Inspectorate upheld the decision and rejected the appeal.  The Appeal Decision Notice attached indicates that the inspectors are clearly understanding the issues we face in the area and the need to work towards rebalancing our community. More Purpose Built Student Accommodation is needed in Nottingham, but on sites outside residential areas.  This provides accommodation for students whilst freeing up homes in residential areas for family occupation.  The appeal decision shows that it is so worthwhile making our objections known, so please continue to comment on relevant applications and let’s work together to bring back some balance to our community!
